Cherie L. Crooks, age 60, member of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, Prior Lake, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Cherie was born in St. Paul, MN, on July 3, 1964, the daughter of Stanley and Cheryl (Cook) Crooks. For over 30 years she was a dedicated employee of the Gaming Commission. Prior to that, she had worked at Valley Newspaper and Dragon Cafe. Cherie was also Miss Mankato at the Pow Wow there.
She liked to gamble, read, traveling (especially to Las Vegas), and she enjoyed the Christmas season. Cherie loved her family and grandkids so much!
Survivors include her daughter, Kc Crooks (Anthony Crenshaw); son, Joseph (Abby) Bathel; grandchildren, Aliyah, Anthony III, and King Crenshaw, Nevaeh, Aiyana, Layla and Maximus Bathel; sister, Alisa Crooks; nieces, Dakota Crooks (and her children, Dreamma Crooks and Myles Lewis, Jr.), and Jesse Archambault-Crooks; uncles, Mike (Renate) Crooks, Danny 'Skip' (Laurie) Crooks; and her partner, Kevin Jensvold.
Cherie was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Cheryl Crooks; grandparents, Norman and Edith Crooks, and Josephine Cook; and uncles.
All services will be held at the Tiowakan Spiritual Center, 14625 Prairiegrass Drive, Prior Lake: Traditional All Night Wake will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025, with Prayer Service at 6:00 PM. Funeral Service Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 10:00 AM. Interment Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Cemetery.
