JORDAN, Minn. — Over a thousand residents gathered Saturday evening for the 11th annual Jordan Dazzle celebration, marking the official start of the Christmas season in downtown Jordan.
The highlight of the evening was the inaugural lighting of the city's new Christmas tree in Pekarna Park. The 20-foot Everest Fir, a pre-lit commercial tree, represents a community-wide effort. The Jordan Fire Department contributed $5,000 toward the $13,000 project, with the Jordan Lions pledging $1,500 and the Jordan Commercial Club committing $500 annually for four years. The Economic Development Authority covered the remaining balance.
“This new tree represents Jordan's growing holiday tradition,” said Mayor Mike Franklin.
The evening's signature parade featured brilliantly lit floats from community organizations and vintage cars adorned with twinkling lights. The Jordan High School marching band filled the air with festive music, while a horse-drawn sleigh added old-fashioned charm. Santa Claus’s appearance brought holiday magic to children and adults alike.
Seven food trucks lined the streets, offering holiday treats ranging from hot chocolate to apple cider, while local shops welcomed evening browsers and shoppers.
“We look forward to Jordan Dazzle every year,” said Megan Shaughnessy, who attended with her family. “It’s more than just an event—it’s about coming together as a community and celebrating what makes Jordan special.”
The celebration, which has grown significantly since its inception in 2013, is co-sponsored by the City of Jordan and the Jordan Commercial Club. The event drew visitors from neighboring communities, spreading holiday cheer throughout Scott County.
