In the upcoming election for the Shakopee School Board, three candidates are running for three open seats, each carrying a four-year term. The candidates include two incumbents—current board chair Jeffrey Smith and board clerk Tim Brophy— alongside newcomer Nick Zitek. There are seven total seats on the school board. The four seats not on the ballot this year will be up for election in 2026.
All three candidates participated in the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce’s September candidates forum. Their interviews can be watched at the Chamber’s election information page.
This year Shakopee voters will also be voting on the renewal of the district technology levy. For more information on voting in Shakopee read our previous article, “Shakopee Residents: How to Vote in the 2024 General Election”.
